Katherine Yip is a founding partner of VinaCapital. She also founded Pacific Alliance Group (PAG), one of the region’s largest Asia-focused alternative investment managers and Sanrio Digital, a global partner of Sanrio Japan working with well known brands including Hello Kitty.
Katherine currently partners with a number of companies including Outblaze, a technology company whose messaging division was sold to IBM in 2009, TurnOut, a strategic joint venture for Asia with Time Warner/Turner Broadcasting, Typhoon Games, the global developer publisher and distributor of PC games such as Football Manager, Winning and YS Seven and Touchmedia, a taxi media company who is the market leader in China.
Katherine has over 20 years of capital markets experience, founding investment companies, taking companies public, management buy-outs and mergers and acquisitions. She was educated at Harvard Business School. Katherine also dedicates time to giving back to the community.
She believes in civic responsibility and using her resources to enable and improve the lives of others. For more than two decades she has been actively involved with multiple charities and continues to be involved with Helping Hand, which supports senior citizens, Hong Kong Cancer Fund and Bring me a Book, which provides access to quality reading materials for those who would not otherwise have the opportunity. More recently she has been involved with the Hong Kong Adventist Hospital Foundation as a major event donor and sponsor.
Katherine is also establishing her own charity – The Yip-Geicke Foundation, which will parallel and support the endeavors of individuals and organisations that improve the overall well-being of people. In 2006 Katherine and her brother started a scholarship in loving memory of their mother.
