Heartbeat Vietnam Family Grants

Heartbeat Vietnam serves disadvantaged children in Vietnam, and among them are the poorest of the poor.

family grants

For the destitute families of these children who have no money, possessions, or, in many cases, their own home, they will need extra support during their child’s hospitalization that extends beyond the cost of the heart surgery.

The Family Grants Program grew out of this need, giving extremely poor families a one-time grant to cover nutrition, travel, and medical costs associated with their child’s heart operation.

The grants range from $50 to $300 and awarded to the recipients on a case-by-case basis based on the family’s financial situation.

Program Impact

When we met Thu at the HCMC’s University Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City after her successful operation, we were greeted with a big smile from the little girl and tears of joy from her mother.  Thu’s health has improved dramatically since the operation, and she can now breathe normally, run around, eat, and play just like any other normal girl her age.
