Scar of Life 7 Press Conference

On May 5th 2017, the project ‘Scar of Life 7’ was initially introduced to public through a warm press conference at the Caravelle Hotel in Saigon.

The year 2017 marks the meaningful 7-year journey of the ‘Scar of Life’ project. Continuing successes of previous years, ‘Scar of Life 7’ with the theme Fatherhood will be organized at Caravelle Saigon Hotel on May 25 th 2017. The project is the joint effort of VAA Company and Heartbeat Vietnam to support poor children with congenital heart disease in the country. Until now, the project has helped 1,248 children to have heart operations and treatment for full recovery.

The press conference honourably welcome attendance of generous donors: Mr. Don Lam – Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the VinaCapital Group, Ms. June Le – Notebook Marketing Manager of ASUS Vietnam, Mr. Nguyen Duy Khai from Perfetto Trading Total International, Mr. Nguyen Duc Tuan – representative of Tuan Le Construction, Ms. Lan Luu, together with musician Minh Khang, singer Ung Dai Ve, second-best and MC Hoang Oanh, as well as other distinguished guests.

The press conference announced the theme ‘Fatherhood’ of the Gala Night ‘Scar of Life 7’. According to Heart Ambassador Ms. Ngo Thanh Van, this year’s theme is to express respect to fathers’ love and to give credit for them on the journey fighting against heart diseases with their children. A touching story about fatherhood will be told via the short film “I love you… more” produced by Ms. Ngo Thanh Van and young director Binh Nguyen. The film will be introduced to the public for the first time at the Gala night.

At the press conference, Heart Ambassador Ngo Thanh Van expressed her dedication to the theme of this year: ‘The message “I love you… more” will ignite and share words of love which are hardly being spoken to your beloved ones before too late. In addition, we will spread the message among the community and share with children that ‘We love you so much’. It will give strength to fathers of children with heart diseases with the wish that their dreams about their children’s recovery will soon come true.’

Mrs. Robin King Austin, CEO of VinaCapital Foundation emotionally asserted: “I actually remember the first time I had seen the feet of a field worker, cracked and rough, and forever scarred by mud deep in the crevices. I remember thinking that he was surely feeling cracks in his heart as deep as the ones in his poor feet. This year, we honor all of those fathers who adore their children and especially those with a scared and broken heart because their child has a heart defect”

Prior to the Gala Night, donations will be collected through tickets, live and silent auctions of special gifts, including:

  1. Longiness watch
  2. Two paintings from Ben Thanh Art & Frame
  3. Holiday package at Mia Resort (5-bedroom villa and culinary experience)
