Don Lam and Robin King Austin founded VCF in 2006.

With their joint dedication, VCF became an American non-profit tax-deductible 501(c)(3) organization and licensed as an international NGO in Vietnam to implement development and humanitarian projects in 63 provinces.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Since he moved to Vietnam in 1992, Rad Kivette has had leadership positions in 4 major international development organizations, in addition to his own organization, all located in Vietnam raising millions of dollars, consulted with the Ministry of Education and Training, culminating in the last 10 years at VinaCapital Foundation (VCF)- the last 4 years as CEO. Under Mr. Kivette’s leadership, VCF works in 63 provinces of Vietnam with a focus on evidence-based programs to improve children’s health and education outcomes and empower their mothers as the most effective means of improving the lives and livelihoods of the disadvantaged, at-risk, and underserved. Mr. Kivette received an honor from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2008, the Medal of Peace and Freedom Among the Nations, for his work in Vietnam. His dream is to see all Vietnamese be eager, equipped, and enabled to take advantage of the incredible opportunities this wonderful country, Vietnam, offers.

Director of Water Engineering and Government Compliance

Tuan Nguyen joined VinaCapital Foundation in October 2008 as an assistant for the Heart Campaign and was promoted to Director of Capacity Building Programs. He manages the implementation of all capacity programs, including managing medical teams and coordinating with provincial authorities to maintain our healthcare and education programs. Tuan has nearly 20 years of experience working for International NGOs in the education and healthcare sectors.

Hue Nguyen joined VinaCapital Foundation in September 2009 as a volunteer after university graduation and quickly fell in love and engaged with the program helping disadvantaged children with congenital heart defects. She found VCF as a place where her heart belonged. For the last 12 years, she has worked her way up to Director of Heartbeat Vietnam and Grassroots Programs and had opportunity to touch every corners of this program. She oversees all aspects of Heartbeat Vietnam including planning, budget, implementation, fundraising and all the program- related activities.

Nhu joined VCF in 2023 as the Director of External Affairs, overseeing communication activities, marketing, and events to support the promotion and raising awareness of VCF's 7 health and education programs nationwide. Prior to this, Như had contributed to VCF as a volunteer in 2011 and as the Media Relations Manager in 2019. With 11 years of experience in communication, assistance to senior leadership, and managing corporate social responsibility projects at Vietnamese and foreign enterprises, Như brings a wealth of expertise to her new role to support the community.

Director of Development

Ai Vy joined VCF as a Development Manager in July 2022. She is now the Development Director who is in charge of maintaining relationships with VCF's many partners (from corporations, and organizations to schools, and clinics…), implementing fundraising initiatives as well as developing collaboration opportunities with potential donors. After 21 years in the travel industry in different positions from Consulting to Contracting Manager and Division Head, she is thrilled to turn her lifelong passion for helping others into a professional opportunity. By joining VCF she hopes to give back to her people in even more meaningful ways, using her experience working with national and international partners.

Thao Luong joined VinaCapital Foundation in 2023 as the Rural Outreach Clinics (ROC) program coordinator. She was later promoted to program manager. Thao coordinates with donors, local authorities, and leading Cardiology Centers in the country to plan and organize cardiology examinations for children in remote regions. Her background in Regional Development Studies fuels her dedication to improving children's lives through this program. After the screening, those children who are found to have congenital heart disease (CHD) will begin being funded by VCF to eventually receive heart surgery and have a healthier heart.
