In March 2024, VinaCapital Foundation’s Survive to Thrive program supported Hoang Su Phi District General Hospital in Ha Giang province to protect the health of newborns and premature babies in the area. The program donated 7 essential medical devices and provided training to improve neonatal care capacity for the local medical team.

With the support of these devices, many premature babies and newborns with neonatal diseases have been rescued in a timely manner. Among them is Hoa, a premature Mong baby. She was born at home weighing only 1.4 kg after her mother’s sudden labor. After traveling more than 40 km of rugged mountain roads, her family brought her to the hospital in critical condition. Upon admission, doctors diagnosed her with newborn respiratory failure and prematurity, requiring the use of medical devices, including a heating bed and a continuous positive airway pressure machine to support her weak lungs.

As the days went by, under the dedicated care of the medical team and with the support of essential neonatal medical equipment, she gradually became stronger. After 32 days of active treatment, she was healthy, had good reflexes, and was discharged from the hospital to go home.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany for joining the Survive to Thrive program and VinaCapital Foundation to protect the lives of newborns and premature babies in rural Vietnam. We believe that with the community’s joint efforts, every child born in the country will have the opportunity for the best start in life.
