For many children, a visit to the doctor can be an intimidating experience. Some begin to cry at the mere sight of nurses or doctors in white coats, even before their appointment begins. That is why the Rural Outreach Clinics program strives to create a welcoming and child-friendly environment during its congenital heart screening visits, turning a health checkup into a day filled with excitement and joy.

In a recent screening trip in Hung Yen, while waiting to see the doctors, children took part in a variety of engaging activities organized by volunteers from UNIS Hanoi.

From face painting and coloring activities to traditional games, these simple activities created a cheerful atmosphere, helping the children feel at ease before their checkups.

Over four days, from May 19–22, 2026, more than 2,000 children received free heart screenings. Through the program, 95 children were identified with congenital heart conditions, including 20 who require timely medical intervention or surgery.

The VinaCapital Foundation sincerely thanks Thai Binh Children’s Hospital and UNIS Service Learning for partnering with its Rural Outreach Clinics program to bring free congenital heart defect screenings to underprivileged children in Hung Yen Province, helping them gain access to early detection and treatment and giving them the chance at a healthier future.
