On February 12th, 2022, Gamuda Land Vietnam (“Gamuda Land”) and VinaCapital Foundation’s Heartbeat Vietnam Program successfully organized the 9th annual Run For The Heart (RFTH) campaign and raised 5,423,327,688 billion VND to save 193 disadvantaged children with congenital heart defects.
With the meaningful message “Heart to Heart – Raise the Lives”, Run For The Heart is an annual charity run organized by Gamuda Land Vietnam and Heartbeat Vietnam to raise funds for poor children with congenital heart defects (CHDs) from all across the country, providing a brighter future for the children and their families.
Launched in 2013, the eight events have raised more than 35 billion dongs, helping more than 1,300 disadvantaged children with congenital heart defects receive life-saving surgery to recover and live healthy, productive lives. With the result of the 9th campaign, RFTH has raised a total fund of more than 40 billion VND. The cumulative number of Vietnamese children saved by the program has now exceeded 1,500 children.
With the theme “Dream Run”, the Organising Committee wishes to spread the program’s meaning to the community and hopes everyone who participates in Run For The Heart 2023 will be a “Dream Carrier” and deliver life-saving opportunities to more little hearts. RFTH 2023 is a series of continuous fundraising activities that combine both online activities and offline events since mid-November last year until now.
Besides common fundraising ways like running online communication campaigns on newspapers, and social networks, raising funds from residents in townships developed by Gamuda Land, and calling for donations from partners, the program continues cooperating with Vietrace365, one of the most popular online running competition platforms among Vietnamese runners’ community, to bring the “running track” across the country. The “Run For The Heart Online” race on this platform has received a positive response from runners nationwide, with 647 athletes participating, and a record of 30,327 km completed.
On the morning of February 12 in Celadon City, Tan Phu District, Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), after more than 2 months of fundraising and awareness-raising efforts, RFTH 2023 ended with a companion run day and closing ceremony to announce the total funds raised.
Representing the Organizing Committee to give speech at the ceremony, Mr. Angus Liew – Chairman of Gamuda Land Vietnam shares: “The slogan “Heart to heart – Raise the lives” truly represents the spirit of this program and the generosity of the community. I’m deeply touched and appreciate the enthusiastic supports from community giving to Run For The Heart. This is what has made this program a success year after year. Gamuda Land will not stop putting efforts to maintain this loving journey for years ahead, to join hands with the community to bring brighter future for thousands of disadvantaged children in Vietnam.”
“VinaCapital Foundation is thrilled and thankful to know that RFTH 2023 is another huge success thanks to our long-term partner Gamuda Land, the donors, the celebrities, as well as the community.”, Mr. Rad Kivette, CEO of VinaCapital Foundation stated, “Together with Gamuda Land and the community, Heartbeat Vietnam is motivated and determined to ensure we fulfill our mission providing life-saving heart surgery to thousands of disadvantaged children in Vietnam and empowering their families to lead healthier, happier, and more productive lives.”
Besides the remarkable fundraising result, the program also attracted the participation of more than 10,000 people, including students, employees of many businesses, and lots of families. In addition, the program continues to receive support from a host of famous artists and influencers including supermodel – businesswoman Vu Thu Phuong, singer Lam Truong, singer and composer Hoang Bach, singer Phuong Vy, singer Y Kroc, miss beauty Le Hoang Phuong, model – businesswoman Vo Bach My Linh, etc. These ambassadors were all excited to mingle with thousands of runners to “connect the heartbeat” at Celadon City.
According to statistics from the Ministry of Health, 10,000 – 15,000 children are born every year in Vietnam with congenital heart defects (CHD), of which half will require intervention or surgery in the first months of life. Without prompt surgery or intervention, thousands of children born every year will suffer and perish in their teenage years. Understanding deeply and empathizing with affected families, Gamuda Land has always made efforts to encourage the community to join hands to bring life-saving assistance to children and support to thousands of families all across the country.
This year, with the strategic companion of the Malaysian Business Chamber (MBC) in Vietnam, Run For the Heart 2023 has received strong support from over 50 sponsors who are largely domestic and foreign enterprises such as Hoa Binh, Ricons, VinaCapital, CBM, Austin Home Interiors, Mai House Saigon, Thai Son Nam, Assa Abloy, MOEN Vietnam, Ong Vang, Fecon South, etc. Thanks to countless kind hearts from the community, the program can bring a healthy life and facilitate the children and families to achieve their dreams.
