Mr. Andy Ho hands over the equipment to Ms. To Thi Bich Chau – President of the Fatherland Front Committee of HCMC
“With the support of the Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, donors and partners, “Help Vietnam Breathe – Vì Nhịp Thở Việt Nam” has successfully raised funds to immediately provide 8 ventilators và personal protective gears, which helps ensure the health and safety of our hospital staff on the frontline and preserve the lives of those with Covid-19. We hope to continue receiving support from the community to be able to donate more equipment. Please join us now to assist Ho Chi Minh city in this fight.” said Mr. Andy Ho – Managing Director and CIO of VinaCapital Group, Board Member of VinaCapital Foundation.
Ms. To Thi Bich Chau – President of Fatherland Front Committee of HCMC shared: “Since the city had an outbreak in March 2021, we have received more than 3,000 billion VND from the joint support of donors, sponsors and people of Ho Chi Minh City, more than 1,350 billion VND of which is for equipment to help field hospitals and specialized facilities for Covid treatment. Through the city’s fundraising and distribution committee, all equipment will be allocated to the city’s Department of Health, who will review the needs of hospitals to support accordingly. In addition, the Fatherland Front also works with donors to assign equipment to places of need like today at Nguyen Trai Hospital. At this challenging time, the consensus and contribution of people in the whole city as well as that of local and foreign organizations and individuals are of great significance in helping the city overcome the pandemic.”
“Help Vietnam Breathe – Vì Nhịp Thở Việt Nam” is a program implemented by VCF to raise funds for purchasing essential pandemic-fighting medical equipment and supplies for frontline medical facilities as the pandemic prolongs and the number of newly infected cases increases dramatically, especially in Ho Chi Minh City. VCF aims to donate a minimum of 15 ventilators for hospitals treating COVID-19 patients and personal protective equipment to protect 9,000 frontline healthcare workers from high risk of infection for at least 30 days. The program will continue to raise funds for more equipment and supplies as long as the pandemic situation remains complicated. VCF will collaborate with the Fatherland Front Committee of HCMC to distribute the medical equipment to the areas of most severe critical need.
In 2020, VCF also provided medical equipment to support Covid-19 prevention with a total value of nearly 3.5 billion VND to hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City. Since the beginning of July this year, VCF has donated personal protective equipment to support many medical facilities in the city to cope with the fourth wave of the pandemic.
