A lifeline for disadvantaged children with congenital heart defects

Born in December 2023, baby Hong Dang brought immense joy to his family. But their happiness was soon overshadowed by fear. Just a few months into his young life, Hong Dang was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect. Heartbreakingly, his older brother, Hong Son, was also found to suffer from the same condition.

The family of five lives in a modest home passed down from their grandfather. Their father works as a mechanic, earning just $400 a month, while their mother stays home to care for the children. With two sons in need of urgent heart surgery, the family is overwhelmed by financial hardship and emotional stress.

In April 2024, hope arrived. Through VinaCapital Foundation’s Rural Outreach Clinics program, a team of doctors from Hoan My Da Nang Hospital visited their community. The clinic not only confirmed the boys’ diagnoses but also offered a pathway to critical, life-saving treatment.
