In March 2026, Vietnam Access America, in collaboration with the Survive to Thrive program of VinaCapital Foundation, has officially handed over a project providing 11 essential medical equipment for pediatric and neonatal emergency and resuscitation care, along with specialized training for healthcare staff at Nam Po Medical Center. The total project value exceeds VND 344 million.

Nam Po Medical Center, located in Na Hy Commune, serves as a key healthcare provider for local residents and surrounding communities. However, the distance from the center to Dien Bien General Hospital is approximately 130 kilometers, with travel times often exceeding three hours due to mountainous and challenging terrain. This makes referrals in obstetric and neonatal emergencies particularly risky if patients cannot receive timely care on-site.

Amid limited resources and increasing demand for healthcare services, the center continues to face a shortage of essential medical equipment for emergency care and maternal and newborn services. This gap directly affects the ability to manage complicated deliveries, neonatal respiratory distress, and perinatal complications in a timely manner.
Through the Survive to Thrive program, Vietnam Access America has supported the center with critical medical equipment, including: 01 Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP); 01 infant warmer; 01 fetal monitor; 01 intubation kit; 01 doppler device; 02 SPO2 machines; 02 infusion pumps; and 02 injection pumps.

The addition of this equipment, combined with training and technical support for primary healthcare workers, is expected to strengthen on-site treatment capacity, reduce the burden on higher-level facilities, minimize unnecessary referrals, and enhance the safety of maternal and newborn care.

Through this project, Vietnam Access America and VinaCapital Foundation aim to reduce preventable risks, improve the quality of neonatal care services, and create sustainable health impacts for communities in remote and border areas facing significant challenges, such as Nam Po.
