“I dream of becoming a doctor so that I can not only heal myself but also care for my parents and everyone around me”
Since he was born, 9-year-old Tri Trung has had delicate health. Even though his home is just 300m away from school, Trung’s daily trip to school is extremely challenging. Every 20m he walks, the young boy has to take a break to catch his breath and recover from exhaustion.

Despite their child’s slow growth, poverty prevented Tri Trung’s parents from taking him to a prominent hospital for proper evaluation. Two years ago, Tri Trung’s symptoms worsened, leaving him gasping for breath and turning pale frequently. At that time, the family gathered money to take Trung for an examination and finally discovered that their son had Tetralogy of Fallot – a type of congenital heart defect.

Because of his poor health, Trung can only sit and watch his friends run and play at school. Hoping that one day he too will have the strength to do what he wants, Tri Trung dreams of becoming a doctor, not only to heal himself but also to help many others.
To support Tri Trung in pursuing his dream, VinaCapital Foundation’s Heartbeat Vietnam program has provided sponsorship for his life-saving surgeries using funds from the “Run for the Heart 2023” event, organized by Gamuda Land in collaboration with the Heartbeat Vietnam program.

In early December, representatives from Gamuda Land and Heartbeat Vietnam visited Tri Trung and three other children who were receiving treatment at Ho Chi Minh City Heart Institute. Following his successful surgery, Tri Trung wore a bright smile on his face, his eyes filled with hope. With a strong and healthy heartbeat, he can now enjoy his childhood and confidently walk to school, pursuing his dream of becoming a doctor.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Gamuda Land for their unwavering support over the years, saving little hearts and opening up a brighter future for them and their family. The “Run for the Heart 2023” event held in February 2023, with the theme “Heart to Heart – Raise the Lives,” successfully raised 5,423,327,688 VND, providing funds for life-saving surgeries for 193 children born with congenital heart defects.
