Joining hands to support 40 orphans and disadvantaged children affected by the Covid-19 pandemic via ZaloPay

Since December 17, 2021, the VinaCapital Foundation (VCF) and Youth Union of Ho Chi Minh City (YU of HCMC) have officially implemented the campaign “Support 40 orphans and disadvantaged children affected by the Covid-19 pandemic” through ZaloPay, with the aim to raise 240,000,000 VND equivalent to the cost of supporting 40 orphans and disadvantaged children affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, according to the following essential aspects: Psychosocial Exam, Health Examination, Eye exam/Glasses, Nutrition, Learning device, and the Internet.

The campaign “Support 40 orphans and disadvantaged children affected by the Covid-19 pandemic” is a part of the “Care to Rise” program coordinated by VCF in collaboration with the YU of HCMC to provide for, protect and encourage the 2,000 orphans created by the Covid-19 pandemic to adulthood.

According to statistics until October 18, 2021, by the Department of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs (DOLISA), 48 orphans lost both parents or caregivers, and 1,805 children were orphaned from either one of their parents. This number may continue to increase due to the complicated and unpredictable developments of the Covid-19 pandemic in Vietnam and the world. Along with financial and education difficulties, the loss of a loved one has left behind psychological and spiritual trauma for the orphans.

The project is divided into 2 stages- assessment, short term remedies, and the future:

– Stage 1: The “Care to Rise” program plans to survey at least 2,100 orphans and support them in the following essential aspects: Psychosocial Exam, Health Examination, Eye exam/Glasses, Nutrition, Learning device, and the Internet.

The project’s database will be handed over to the YU of HCMC and relating parties after completion, which aims to solve these problems in a sustainable way and build a database to determine the course of action for each child.
