On the blissful morning of July 3, 2023, VinaCapital Foundation (VCF) and the Heartbeat Vietnam (HBVN) program, together with Medical, Educational Missions and Outreach (M.E.M.O) and CardiacLife Foundation (CLF), orchestrated a heartwarming gathering with 4 children with congenital heart defects and their families at University of Medical Center, Ho Chi Minh City. These are the children who have received surgical support through the Heartbeat Vietnam program, thanks to the funding provided by M.E.M.O and CLF. At the event, representatives from M.E.M.O and CLF shared inspiring stories and gave passionate reflections on their journey, leaving a desire to help among the attendees.

The year 2023 witnessed another triumphant effort of CLF and M.E.M.O in their goal of supporting disadvantaged Vietnamese children to access quality health care services, as they raised a staggering sum of 65,000 USD to sponsor heart surgery and continuing care for 19 children born with congenital heart defects through the Heartbeat Vietnam program. With this donation, M.E.M.O and CLF have now saved a total of 49 children since 2022. Children who were once unable to run and play due to their heart defects, can now enjoy their childhood and stand on stage to celebrate their exceptional healing journey, all thanks to the help of our precious donors from M.E.M.O and CLF.

VCF and HBVN want to extend our sincerest gratitude and appreciation to M.E.M.O and CLF for their invaluable effort and support. With M.E.M.O and CLF’s unwavering companionship, we strongly believe that it is possible to save more young hearts as time flies by and open up a brighter horizon for them.

About CardiacLife Foundation and M.E.M.O:

CardiacLife Foundation (CLF) is an organization established by students living in Vietnam and abroad with the goal of supporting Vietnamese children to access essential healthcare services, especially heart health. Our organization utilizes the C.A.R.E model (Care, Advocacy, Research, Education) to overcome the barriers of cardiovascular diseases in low- and middle-income countries such as Vietnam.

M.E.M.O is an organization that has been operating for 16 years in the U.S. with the goal of providing medical and educational support to disadvantaged children and Vietnamese communities living in remote areas of Vietnam. Their activities include sponsoring surgery costs, providing medical examination and medicine distribution, and awarding scholarships. The MEMO leaders are Vietnamese doctors and dentists living in the U.S. The organization is operated by a group of pre-health students in the U.S. Thanks to the connection of the Ho Chi Minh City Medical University Hospital, MEMO cooperated with CLF to implement a fundraising campaign called “Open Our Hearts Gala” in the U.S. in May 2022. A total fundraising amount of more than 1.3 billion VND was contributed to the Heartbeat Vietnam program to finance surgery costs and post-surgery re-examination for 30 disadvantaged children with congenital heart defects.
