During her visit to Vietnam in late May and early June, Ms. Hoang Yen, a kind-hearted Vietnamese-American philanthropist, donated 1,380 USD to the Heartbeat Vietnam (HBVN) program to sponsor the congenital heart defect surgery for Baby Nhu Y, and 3,238 USD to the Clean Water program to install a clean water filtration system that benefits more than 1,000 students and teachers at Bui Van Moi Elementary School, one of the schools with disadvantaged facilities in Ho Chi Minh City.

As a compassionate heart that has been following VinaCapital Foundation’s (VCF) journey to change the lives of disadvantaged children for many years, Ms. Hoang Yen previously sponsored a heart surgery for a little boy with congenital heart defects named Minh Tri in 2018. After a long period of time unable to return to her homeland due to the pandemic, Ms. Hoang Yen finally had the opportunity to visit and chat with both Nhu Y and Minh Tri – the boy she helped save years ago, during this trip to Vietnam on June 3, 2023. With the help of Ms. Hoang Yen and the HBVN program, Nhu Y has undergone successful heart surgery and is recovering very well, and Minh Tri is also a healthy boy who is growing up strongly every day thanks to his healed heart.

VCF sincerely thanks Ms. Hoang Yen for joining hands with us to change the lives and take care of the health of disadvantaged children in Vietnam through her donation to the HBVN and Clean Water programs. With long-term support from sponsors and donors, we believe that many more underprivileged children will be given the opportunity to have a brighter future.
