Two brave little “heart warriors” Quynh Tram from Khanh Hoa province and Y Nghia Mlo from Dak Lak province, have regained their healthy heartbeats after their congenital heart defects were healed with the support of the Heartbeat Vietnam (HBVN) program by VinaCapital Foundation (VCF), through funding from Rotary International District 3740 and Rotary Club Saigon International.
In 2022, Y Nghia Mlo, a little boy from the Ede ethnic group in Dak Lak province, was joyfully welcomed into the world with love and anticipation from his parents. However, instead of thriving like other babies, he suffered from frequent fevers and relentless crying, which weakened his little body. Mlo’s fragile state forced his mother to leave her job and dedicate herself to his care at home. The family’s livelihood since then relied solely on the meager income from his father’s unstable manual labor jobs. In April 2023, during a free screening program for underprivileged children in Dak Lak province organized by the VCF, it was uncovered that Mlo had a congenital heart defect known as “patent ductus arteriosus.” Amidst their overwhelming challenges, luck smiled upon the family as Y Nghia Mlo was fully sponsored for the medical intervention to heal his heart through the HBVN program.
During a recent visit to Quynh Tram and Y Nghia Mlo after their successful surgeries at Tam Duc Heart Hospital, representatives from the HBVN team, Rotary International District 3740, and Rotary Club Saigon International provided caring encouragement and brought much joy to the young children and their families.
Quynh Tram and Y Nghia Mlo are among the 30 underprivileged children with congenital heart defect who will be sponsored for their heart surgeries by Rotary International District 3740 and Rotary Club Saigon International. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Rotary International District 3740 and Rotary Club Saigon International for providing these little ones with life-saving heart surgeries and the opportunity to grow up with a bright future.
