Today, Suntory Group and Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam (SPVB) in collaboration with VinaCapital Foundation (VCF) organize the Handover Ceremony of Clean Water System for Pham Phu Thu Primary School in Dien Ban District, Quang Nam Province. The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Dien Ban District People’s Committee, District Education Department, Suntory Group and Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam, VinaCapital Foundation, teachers, and students of Pham Phu Thu Primary School.
The system is implemented within the social project “Mizuiku – I Love Clean Water” of Suntory Group. 2018 is the first year that the project has been implemented in Quang Nam province with funding from Suntory Group and the implementation cooperation by Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam, VinaCapital Foundation, Education Department, and local authorities and primary schools in Quang Nam province. The project will help elementary school pupils in Quang Nam province to raise their awareness of protecting water resources.
According to the assessment of Quang Nam General Hospital, the locality has abundant water resources but it is unevenly distributed and has been changed due to geographical factors. Meanwhile, the demand for water is increasing but the groundwater area is gradually shrinking. The use of fertilizers and plant protection chemicals for crops is complicated, and the impacts of climate change, water rise, and geological change are increasingly evident … All those causes will put the people of Quang Nam at risk of facing a shortage of clean water. Therefore, propaganda and education projects to raise awareness of protecting water sources for elementary students such as “Mizuiku – I Love Clean Water” are practical and effective.
“Mizuiku – I Love Clean Water” is a project to propagate, educate and protect water resources for elementary school students. This is one of the initiatives that Suntory Group has successfully implemented in Japan since 2004. In 2015, Vietnam was the first country outside of Japan to be selected to implement the program. With these achievements, in 2018, “Mizuiku – I Love Clean Water” will be officially put into operation in collaboration between the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam and the Central Committee of the Communist Youth Union of Ho Chi Minh City. In the school year 2017-2018, they will continue to promote the project’s scale and quality in a comprehensive way.
