The Survive To Thrive team is thrilled that 7 CPAP machines at Da Nang Hospital for Women and Children have been prepared with the support of local donors to protect the lives of premature infants.
As one of the leading specialized Obstetrics and Pediatrics hospitals in the Central and Central Highlands region of Vietnam, Da Nang Hospital for Women and Children’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) caters to hundreds of pediatric patients on a daily basis. The demand for continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machines to support the treatment of premature infants and severe pneumonia cases in the NICU is significant. However, due to extensive and prolonged usage, many CPAP machines in the unit are in disrepair, hindering treatment opportunities for these young patients. In times of high patient volume, doctors must share CPAP machines among 2-3 patients per minute to ensure respiratory support due to the severe shortage of machines.
With the aim of safeguarding the lives of premature babies, VinaCapital Foundation’s Survive to Thrive program has stepped in to repair 7 CPAP machines for the NICU department of the hospital. Furthermore, as part of the program, the NICU and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit have been adorned with vibrant wall murals illustrating crucial topics like essential newborn care, Kangaroo care, important developmental milestones, and more. These visuals serve as a helpful resource for parents and caregivers, keeping them well-informed about the care required for their precious little ones.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Le Thi Thuy Trinh, the General Director of The Ocean Villas Danang, the staff of The Ocean Villas Danang, and all the generous individuals who supported the Vietnam Children’s Fund and VinaCapital Foundation’s Survive to Thrive program in repairing essential neonatal medical equipment at Da Nang Hospital for Women and Children. Your contribution plays a crucial role in safeguarding the lives of newborns and premature infants in Vietnam’s Central region.
