On the afternoon of July 5th, 2023, VinaCapital Foundation (VCF) collaborated with the Binh Tan District Youth Union to directly give a ton of New Zealand apples to 200 orphans and disadvantaged children affected by Covid-19 at Binh Tan District Children House. This event was a part of the VCF’s Care to Rise program, aiming to support, protect, and empower orphans post-pandemic and disadvantaged children affected by Covid-19 in Ho Chi Minh City.

Holding bags full of red apples, happiness, and enthusiasm soon filled their faces. “My grandma really likes apples so I’m bringing them back for her,” whispered a child as they received the surprise gift. They could not wait to go home and share the excitement with their grandma.

Binh Tan is one of the two districts that suffered the most from Covid-19. Even though that miserable period has already passed, many children in Ho Chi Minh City are still enduring the pain of losing their fathers, mothers, or guardians, as well as the mental and physical challenges Covid-19 left behind. Therefore, these children are still in need of extra support and affection from the community to overcome different obstacles on their journeys to adulthood.

VCF and the Care to Rise program are working tirelessly to communicate, protect, and give continuous care to these children until their maturity. We would like to sincerely thank the New Zealand Consulate General and several Export Processing Enterprises from New Zealand for accompanying Care to Rise and providing meaningful gifts to orphans and disadvantaged children affected by Covid-19 in Binh Tan district.
