VinaCapital Foundation & Meditronic Handover Emergency Response Gifts to Children with CHD and Families affected by COVID-19

Today, representatives of VinaCapital Foundation and Meditronic came to University Medical Center HCMC to present emergency relief gifts to children with congenital heart defects and families affected by Covid-19, which were donated through our “Together We Save Children’s Hearts” campaign.

To reduce the burden of COVID-19’s impacts, VinaCapital Foundation is making an effort to accompany children with congenital heart defects to support them to be fully cared for before and after surgery, ensuring their recovery as well as bringing better living conditions for disadvantaged families.

We visited baby Le Thi Truc and her mother. Truc was born in 2015 in Nghe An at only 1.9kg, with hand defects, and was diagnosed with congenital heart defects at 1 month old. She underwent 3 surgeries, the last time on November 22, 2019, which was supported by Heartbeat Vietnam, and had a stable recovery. But as the baby’s congenital heart defect is complex, requiring multiple surgeries, she is expected to undergo a fourth operation in July 2020. Truc and his mother now live in a shelter home in Bien Hoa City, Dong Nai. The mother helps the parish or receives candies to do processing, making a couple of thousand VND a day. It is the soeurs at the parish who help cover the cost of Truc’s re-examination & milk, supporting Truc and her mother to overcome this difficult period.
