Visiting two brave little hearts who successfully underwent life-changing congenital heart defect surgeries at Ho Chi Minh City Heart Institute

From the moment he was born, 9-year-old Man Dat’s life has been associated with frequent hospital visits. With the diagnoses of “pulmonary valve stenosis” and “ventricular septal defect,” Dat is truly a little warrior for underwent two interventions before turning 1 year old, followed by two surgeries to enable him to grow up and go to school like his peers. As he grows up, Dat still often turns pale whenever he engages in strenuous activities. Every 1 to 2 months, Dat has to visit the hospital for his heart check-ups. Acting as the main provider for the family, Man Dat’s mother shoulders the financial burden, including the costs of medications, follow-up visits, and monthly school fees for her child. When Dat was appointed for his third surgery in 2023, the family’s financial resources had already been depleted.

A glimmer of hope shone upon Man Dat and his family when they received sponsorship for this life-saving surgery through VinaCapital Foundation’s Heartbeat Vietnam program. The resilient 9-year-old boy successfully underwent his third surgery and is recovering day by day at the Ho Chi Minh City Heart Institute.

On a beautiful September morning in 2023, the Heartbeat Vietnam program and sponsors from Fitness & Lifestyle Group paid a visit and brought encouraging gifts for Man Dat and Thien Phuc – another little angel who received sponsorship for his congenital heart defect surgery. The steady breaths and radiant smiles of these children serve as a great motivation for us to continue our journey of saving the lives of disadvantaged children with congenital heart defects.
